expectations

Using the personas the team was able to create realistic scenarios and persona expectations. Persona expectations were based on the previous user research at the station, coupled with interviews the team conducted with passengers who fit the persona demographics. These interviews helped the develop the attitudes, experiences, aspirations that shaped the persona expectations. These expectations were then used develop accurate interaction storyboards.

Scenario

Patricia is out to pick up her kids from school on a Friday afternoon. She’ll have to take her son to his baseball game in a bit, but they’ll have time for lunch before they leave. As she pulls up, she sees a familiar face. It’s one of her college roommates, Jackie. They catch up, and Jackie mentions she has extra tickets to the Seahawks game on Sunday, and invites Patricia and her kids to join her family. Patricia is excited to catch up with her old friend, and agrees. Sunday arrives, and Patricia gets a text from Jackie, warning her that traffic will be bad due to the game, and suggests she use public transit. Her kids overslept, and they’re running late, so public transit is the only option. Luckily, the UW light rail station is only a few minutes away by car. Using her app, she finds parking quickly, and figures out which station she needs to reach to reach century link the quickest, and buys her tickets. They arrive at the Century Link Field, and it is just as loud as advertised. Her children, wearing noise reduction headphones, are already grinning from ear to ear. They meet up with Jackie, and run to their seats to enjoy the game.
